This is a profile of the traditional holiday resort of Broadstairs in Kent. Once a thriving seaside town, it has been hit by the general decline in the numbers of people opting to take holidays in Britain. The video examines how its businesses are adapting to times of economic change.

In its heyday the Pavilion theatre was packed. Now it makes money selling food and drink.

Bleak House is a museum that used to concentrate on offering visitors a Victorian experience. Now it has a “Smugglers Cellar” and is making a special pitch for younger visitors. Once just for holiday-makers, the Albion hotel is now targeting the corporate market and visitors from the continent.
